Volunteers rescue animals from property

Owensboro Humane Society volunteers have spent the last several weeks feeding and capturing pets on an Ohio County property. Volunteers say an elderly Hartford man who loves animals recently moved into a nursing home. He left behind more than 50 cats and two dogs near Harmons Ferry Road.. Volunteers are collecting the animals as space and donations become available. "We're taking care of them at the site...getting them fed, keeping them warm until we're able to get funding to have them vetted. Our goal is to have them vetted and adopted," saidCheryly Bartlett, Owensboro Humane Society Volunteer.

The Owensboro Humane Society says they need donations for vet bills and they're looking for people to adopt the captured cats. For more information you can call the Owensboro Humane Society at (270) 302-6813.
