Expansion to Henderson Co. HS Career and Technical Center in the works

HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) -

An expansion is in the works at the Career and Technical Education Center at Henderson County High School.

Phase 1 of a 3 part project will add 10,000 square feet to the center. The goal of the program is to provide high school students a better opportunity to learn.

Over 1,600 students are enrolled in its 15 programs, such as manufacturing, health sciences and construction. These are students who use the center to prepare for a trade, or for a 2 and 4 year degree.

“The project also includes a renovation of our industrial education classrooms and labs, which includes our automotive technology machine tool, welding and construction technology programs,” said Brian Bailey.

Construction on Phase 1 is scheduled to begin in May.

No word yet on what Phase 2 or 3 will entail.
