Dickey looking for another 500 point season as Aces visit UNI on Sunday

CEDAR FALLS, IA (WFIE) -

The University of Evansville women's basketball team (11-14, 6-8) continues their Iowa roadswing at UNI on Sunday afternoon. The game will be held at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa and begin at 2:00 p.m.  Due to a UE men's basketball game at Wichita St. at the same time, the women's basketball game will air on tape delay at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23 on WUEV 91.5 FM.

The Aces dropped the opening game of the weekend roadtrip 78-69 at Drake on Friday. Guard Sara Dickey tallied a team-high 27 points in the defeat. Guard Khristian Hart (12) and Mallory Ladd (11) each reached double figures in the contest.

With 12 points, Dickey will become only the second player in program history to have two, 500 point seasons as a Purple Ace.

Evansville is looking for their first road win since Jan. 18 at Southern Illinois and first road victory at Northern Iowa dating back to 2008.

On the stat sheet, Evansville's Dickey (19.5 points per game), Ladd (15.0) and guard Khristian Hart (10.4) are all averaging double figures. Dickey also has the most assists (62) as Hart has totaled a team-best with 43 steals for UE this year. Ladd is notching a team-high 0.9 blocks per game. The Aces make 40.4% of their field goals, 34.7% of threes, and 64.8% at the free throw line.

UNI (13-11, 9-4) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 64-29 victory over Indiana St. on Friday evening. The 29 points allowed are a season-low for the Panthers.

Statistically, Weekly is the lone UNI starter to average double-figure points per game (14.4). Forward Alyssa Johnson has a team-best 6.5 per game. Weekly leads the Panthers with 59 assists this season. Johnson also has 38 blocks, most of any Panther. UNI is averaging 63.2 points and 35.9 rebounds per game. The Panthers shoot 38.3% from the floor, 33.5% beyond the arc and 72.6% at the free throw line.

Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. UNI was voted second in the MVC preseason poll.  Dickey and forward Jen Keitel, who is injured and out for the season, were both named to the MVC preseason team. The Aces are guided by fourth year head coach Oties Epps as the Panthers are led by eighth year head coach Tanya Warren.

UNI leads Evansville 26-19 in the all-time series. The Panthers won the previous meeting at the Ford Center 58-44 earlier this season.

Evansville is back at home on Friday, Feb. 27 to host the Indiana State Sycamores at 7 p.m.
