Community leaders start children service project in Henderson

HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) - A project to build a new center for kids near South Heights Elementary School is now underway.

The Audubon Kids Zone will expand children's services on Henderson's east side.

The Kids Zone will focus on helping students reach their fullest potential through academics and guidance with different career paths.

Rob Carroll, the principal at South Heights Elementary School, says this new project means more help at succeeding in life.

"Our kids at South Heights Elementary are the strongest kids I know but they don't need to be that strong. It's time for the rest of the world to kind of step up, do their part, and just make their trip to life a little easier," said Caroll.

The Audubon Kids Zone should be up and running by January 1, 2016.
