OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Tuesday, family and friends say their final goodbyes to former Kentucky senator Wendell Ford.

He died last Thursday after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

Ford's funeral is set to begin at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Owensboro.

White House officials confirm to 14NEWS Vice President Joe Biden and former president Bill Clinton plan to attend.

Bob Whitmer, with Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, tells us Clinton arrived in Owensboro early Tuesday morning between 1 and 2 a.m.

Vice President Biden arrived at Tri-State Aero in Evansville Tuesday morning around 9 aboard Air Force Two. He then traveled by motorcade from Evansville to Owensboro.

Hundreds of people attended Ford's visitation Monday at Glenn Funeral Home.

People say they take a lot of pride in the fact that one of the greatest leaders in Kentucky, and the country, is from Daviess County.
