Owensboro mayor remembers his friend, Wendell Ford

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Wendell Ford was close with political families in Washington D.C., and in western Kentucky.

Owensboro Mayor, Ron Payne, told 14NEWS him and Ford go way back. He said he valued the many conversations he had with Ford about issues in the community.

Payne said Ford wasn't only a good friend, but an advisor as well, saying he was a big advocate for the region's growth.

He says he always appreciated Ford because of how honest he was with his advice.

“He would use that wit and that wisdom to communicate to you his ideas and it came across real strong I am really truly going to miss him and having him available to call and talk to him about things,” said the mayor.
