OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) - Four people were arrested in Oakland City after multiple law enforcement agencies found a meth lab while serving an arrest warrant.
Indiana State Police, the Gibson County Sheriff's Office, and the Oakland City Police Department arrived at a home in the 600 block of Walnut St. around 8:25 p.m. Saturday.
We're told the arrest warrant was for 20-year-old Megan Mitchell who was wanted in Gibson and Pike Counties for various offenses.
When officials arrived at the home, an officer went to the back of the residence and saw 39-year-old Christopher Jones walking through the backyard.
The officer said he ordered Jones to take his hands out of his pocket. When he did, officials say, a knife fell out. Officers say they also found two-grams of meth and a syringe in Jones' coat pocket.
Authorities say they detected a strong odor, commonly associated with the manufacturing of meth, outside the home. When officials searched the home, they say, they found a meth lab and drug paraphernalia in the attic.
The homeowner, 49-year-old Darrell Mitchell, along with Megan Mitchell and 20-year-old Amber Reiner, of Newburgh, were arrested.
Darrell Mitchell, Jones, and Reiner were taken to the Gibson County Jail.
Megan Mitchell was taken to the Pike County Jail where she is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
