Assistance for miners laid off from Patriot Coal

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Help is being offered to hundreds of miners in Union County who were laid off by Patriot Coal.

Staff from the Kentucky Career Center's Green River office will hold Rapid Response meetings on Friday, January 9,

Five identical meetings will be held every two hours, starting at 8 am, at Highland Mine headquarters, 530 French Road, Waverly, KY. Workers will be notified which session to attend.

Miners will get information about programs and services available to help them as they look for new career opportunities.Patriot Coal announced last week that it would idle its two Union County mines, impacting 670 people.
