Blue lights shining in support of police officers

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

One Evansville city council member is urging people to participate in the "Turn Your Neighborhood Blue" campaign to honor police officers.

If you want to be a part of it, all you have to do is turn on a blue light outside of your home.

Council member Missy Mosby is asking people in Evansville to turn their blue lights on Saturday night, take a picture, and then share it on social media with the hashtag, "police lives matter."

"I just think it is very important," says Mosby. "We had the rally on Monday and let's just keep the enthusiasm going and keep letting our law enforcement officers know that here in Evansville we do appreciate you and we do care about you."

This nationwide effort started in Virginia and organizers say they want it to last through the first week of the new year.
