OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Combest Pool in Owensboro is about to be renovated.
The Owensboro Department of Parks and Recreation says the pool will get a new liner and some 40-year-old mechanical parts will be replaced.
Park officials say the changes are important for pool operation and the safety of people who use the pool.
"The liner is not good, it's leaking, a lot of the mechanical components will get rust and things like that and it's a safety and health issue. To be able to open a pool that is safe for our public to use, we have to have these renovations done," says Kerry Bodenheimer, Owensboro Parks and Recreation.
Bids for construction will be accepted in January with the work beginning soon after.
The parks department hopes to have the work complete before the pool is scheduled to open on Memorial Day.
