OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Owensboro Municipal Utilities is trying to figure out how to save a nearly 100 year old water production plant.
OMU CEO, Terry Naulty, says the plant is falling apart and it's a safety hazard for employees.
He also says the plant jeopardizes the water supply for many in Owensboro.
Naulty hopes the study will help OMU figure out a way to fix the aging building.
Bids for an outside contractor to do the study will be accepted through January 9. It's expected to cost about a half-million dollars.
Naulty says the study will likely start in February with results to be reported in June.
