ST. LOUIS, MO (WFIE) - For the first time in his career, Egidijus Mockevicius was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in a pair of victories for the Purple Aces over the last week.
Mockevicius put together two of the top games of his career to lead the University of Evansville to a pair of victories over Ohio University and Alabama State. He began the week with 16 points and 10 rebounds versus the Bobcats. In 32 minutes, Mockevicius went to the free throw line 9 times, connecting on eight of those attempts. He also blocked three shots.
In Sunday's win over preseason SWAC favorite Alabama State, he had the best game of his career. A 9/13 performance from the field and a 7-8 effort from the charity stripe gave him a career-high 25 points. He led everyone with 12 rebounds and 2 more blocked shots. For the week, he averaged 20.05 points while shooting 59.1% (13/22) from the floor. He was the top free throw shooter on the game, making 15 out of 17 attempts while blocking a total of five shots.
