UE baseball team to receive MVC championship rings

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The University of Evansville baseball team will be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game on Saturday and will receive their 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season Championship Rings.

This Aces baseball team was the first since 2006 to accomplish an MVC regular season championship.

“I look forward to having the 2014 baseball team back together at the game tomorrow for our special ring ceremony,” said head coach Wes Carroll. “This was a special group of men that I'm thrilled to honor them with a MVC championship ring. “

The Purple Aces had a historic season last season going 34-21 overall, including a 15-6 mark in MVC play. Evansville hit a league-best .291 and held the Valley's highest fielding percentage at .975. UE also had the league's fourth lowest ERA at 3.67.

There will be a special video montage during halftime before the players and staff receive their championship rings.

Be at the Ford Center on Saturday, December 13 to support the UE baseball team and root on the men's basketball to victory over Murray State. Tip is set for 1:05 p.m.
