Sara Dickey and Mallory Ladd combine for 53 points in Aces loss

MARTIN, TN - The University of Evansville women's basketball team (1-4) received 53 total points from sophomore guard Sara Dickey and senior forward Mallory Ladd, but the Aces fell 84-74 at UT-Martin on Saturday night.

Dickey (28 points) and Ladd (25) are the only UE women's basketball teammates to each score 25 or more points in the same game during the last 10 seasons.

Evansville fell behind by seven points early on a Jessy Ward three with 15:46 to go in the first half. Trailing 15-8, Evansville then went on a 7-0 run to even up the score on a layup from freshman guard Kenyia Johnson. Those were the only points for Johnson, who also had a season-high five assists in her first collegiate start.

With the score even, the Skyhawks then totaled 18 of the next 22 points to go ahead by 14 points. UT-Martin made eight, three pointers in the opening half to hold a 46-32 advantage. Dickey had 18 points in the first half on 7-for-12 shooting.

UE brought the double digit deficit to eight points with a Mallory Ladd layup at the 11:09 mark of the second half. Ladd totaled 17 points in the second half.

Trailing 62-55, the Aces continued to climb back until a Sara Dickey three tied the game at 69 with only 6:39 left in regulation.

UT-Martin then rebuilt a five point lead but a three from senior guard Khristian Hart pulled Evansville within two, 74-72, entering the under four media timeout.

The hometown Skyhawks then finished the game on a 10-2 run including eight points from Ward , to prevent UE from ending their three game losing streak.

Evansville shot a season-best 56% from the floor in the game. The Aces yielded 14 first half turnovers but only three in the second half. UE earned 24 assists on 30 made field goals in the contest.

UT-Martin outrebounded Evansville 38-24 in the contest and made a total of 14 three pointers in the game, two shy of a record by a UE opponent (Creighton, 2013).

After winning the regular season opener at home, the Aces have now lost four consecutive games, all of which have been on the road. Evansville's next game is Wednesday, December 3 at Murray State. Tip is set for 5:00 p.m. CT.

UE's next home game will be on Saturday, December 6 against Miami (Ohio) for a 4:00 p.m. tip at the Ford Center.
