Lady Aces Travel to UT-Martin for Saturday night showdown

?The University of Evansville women's basketball team (1-3) continues their season-long five consecutive games away from home when they visit the UT-Martin Skyhawks on Saturday, November 29. The tip is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
Evansville lost their last game, 83-39, at #22/21 West Virginia on Wednesday, November 26. Sophomore guard Sara Dickey scored 16 points in the contest. Ladd also added nine points. Freshman guard Kenyia Johnson set a new career-high with six points in the game.
Statistically, Ladd leads UE with 16.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Dickey (15.3) and senior guard Khristian Hart (12.5) both average double figure points per game as well. Sophomore forward Sasha Robinson also has pulled in 7.0 rebounds per game. The Aves are averaging 60.0 points and 33.8 rebounds per game. UE has made 33.5% of their field goals, 28.2% from beyond the arc, and 72.5% at the free throw line.
UT-Martin (1-5) also lost their last game, a 79-75 defeat at Samford on Wednesday, November 26. Four Skyhawks scored double figures in the loss (Ashia Jones – 15, Karisma Tyson – 11, Tiara Caldwell and Jessy Ward – 10).
On the stat sheet, UT-Martin has two players averaging double figure points per game (Jones – 15.3, Ward – 15.0). Jones also has a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game. Tiara Caldwell is second on the squad with 6.6 rebounds per game. Ward has made 45.7% of her three point attempts this season. The Skyhawks are averaging 60.5 points and 34.8 rebounds per game. UT-Martin has made 36.3% of their field goals, 33.1% of threes, and 63.6% of free throws.
Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. Dickey was also named to the preseason All-Conference team. The Aces are led by fourth year head coach Oties Epps. UT-Martin is projected to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Jones was also named a preseason First Team Selection in the OVC. Kevin McMillan is in his sixth season as head coach.
Evansville is 7-6 in the all-time series against UT-Martin. The Skyhawks won last year's meeting 93-77 at home on November 25, 2013. Dickey netted a team-high 23 points in the game including a 10-for-14 performance at the free throw line. Ladd also put together a 21 point, 9 rebound effort in the last meeting between the two teams. UE looks for their first win vs. UT-Martin in the Epps era (currently 0-3).
UE's next home game will be on Saturday, December 6 against Miami (Ohio) for a 4:00 p.m. tip at the Ford Center.
