FORT WAYNE, IN - The University of Evansville women's basketball team (1-1) completes their two-game road swing with a contest at IPFW on Friday night. The tip is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
Evansville played at Ball State on Wednesday night and the Aces were narrowly defeated 76-70. Senior guard Khristian Hart led UE in scoring with 26 points off the bench.
The 26 points are the most for the guard since January 2013 when she tallied a career-high 28 points against Missouri State.
Evansville also received a 19 point game from sophomore guard Sara Dickey and a 13 point, 9 rebound effort from senior forward Mallory Ladd.
The Purple Aces never led in the game but were within two points at the 2:15 mark of the second half. The Cardinals ended the game on a 9-5 run for the victory.
On the stat sheet, Hart and Dickey lead UE with 19.5 points per game. Ladd is averaging a double-double with 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Sasha Robinson is also averaging 10.0 rebounds per game this season. UE is averaging 71.0 points and 38.5 rebounds per game. The Aces are shooting 37.6% from the floor, 28.9% on threes and 77.8% at the free throw line
Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. Dickey was also named to the preseason All-Conference team.
IPFW (1-1) lost their season-opener 70-63 at Illinois on November 14 and followed up the defeat with a 90-51 victory at home against Grace on Tuesday night. Haley Seibert and KeShyra McCarver both scored 16 points each in the win. Keana Gray tallied 10 points in the Mastodons victory.
Statistically, McCarver pilots IPFW offensively with 19.0 points per game. Seibert (15.0) and Courtney Ogle (10.5) also average double digit points per game this season. McCarver is the lone Mastodon to average double digit rebounds with 10.0 per game.
IPFW averages 76.5 points and 45.5 rebounds per game. The Mastodons shoot 44.1 percent on field goals, 43.4 percent on threes and 72.7 percent at the free throw line.
IPFW is projected to finish sixth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. Seibert was also named a preseason First Team selection.
Evansville is 1-0 all-time against IPFW. The lone matchup was a Purple Aces 80-67 win on November 25, 2013 at the Ford Center.
Ladd had a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds in the 11:00 a.m. Kids Day victory. Dickey added 15 points as Robinson totaled 14 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Guard Kat Taylor also had 14 points.
UE's next home game will be on Saturday, December 6 against Miami (Ohio) for a 4:00 p.m. tip at the Ford Center.
