House of Champions up Next for UE Swim/Diving

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - After a layoff of five weeks for the men and one event over that span for the women, the University of Evansville swimming and diving teams are amped up for a huge weekend of action at the House of Champions, which begin on Friday.

IUPUI is the host for the event, which will be held at the IU Natatorium.  

Each day will feature preliminary rounds in the morning followed by the finals in the evening.  Friday's action gets underway at 11:30 a.m. ET with finals slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.  

Prelims start at 11:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday while the finals begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Several solid programs from the Midwest will be participating in the meet including: IUPUI, the University of Indianapolis, Lewis, Green Bay, Butler, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Bellarmine, Centre and Evansville.

Seedings for the meet have been posted based on top times this season.  Sitting atop several events is UE star Michelle Tipton.  

The senior sits atop the pre-meet rankings in the 100 Free, 200 Free and the 1,650-meter Freestyle.  She enters with the second-best time in the 500 Free.

Sophomore Danielle Freeman is also seeded very high entering the action.  She is listed in second for the 50 Free and 100 Free behind her teammate.

On the men's side, senior Ashton Bishop is near the top of the seeds.  His events will be the 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Fly.  Daniel O'Brien is high in the seedings.
