The city of Madisonville is suing the owners of an old downtown building. The city claims the Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservation allowed the Dulin building to continue to deteriorate over the past year. The city says the Dulin building was condemned two years ago and nothing has been done since then to fix it. Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservations took control of the building last year. The nonprofit organization says they're searching for someone interested in bringing the building back to life. Madisonville city officials say the building is uninsured and is a danger to the public. There are cracks in some of the windows and bricks are falling off. The city is concerned about the buildings structural integrity and wants Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservations to bring it up to code. Kentucky Trust for Historic Preservation Executive Director Joe Pierson says he hasn't seen the lawsuit and doesn't want to comment at this time.
