Green River Kiwanis honor high school athletes for mental attitude, leadership

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Some student-athletes from Vanderburgh County schools were recognized Wednesday by the Green River Kiwanis Club.

Specifically, the club presented Kiwanis Mental Attitude Awards to soccer players.

Coaches chose the winners based upon input from other players, athletic directors and principals..

Nathan Hall won the award for the boys soccer team at Memorial High School.

Hall said he hopes his positive attitude will inspire younger players, "It's not about you and how many goals you can score and how many assists you can make. It's how good you can make the team because at the end of the season you're all going for the state championship."

16 students from Bosse, Central, Day School, Harrison, Mater Dei, Memorial, North and Reitz were recognized at the award ceremony.
