Construction to begin on $23 million dollar facility

Owensboro Riverport Authority will soon begin construction on what's being called - the biggest milling facility of its kind in the country.

The Owensboro Riverport Authority and Solvay Chemicals Incorporated agreed to a 10 year partnership this afternoon.  Solvay Chemical will ship sodium products used for controlling air pollution in coal power plants from Wyoming to the Owensboro Riverport. The raw materials will be ground into powder at the new milling facility. The Owensboro Riverport Authority will build, own, and operate the new milling facility. Solvay Chemical will pay the riverport to process their product. Construction is expected to wrap up next year and the new mill will bring 8 new jobs.
