EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Evansville Water & Sewer Utility will soon have construction projects underway on the city's north, east, west and southeast sides.
The utility is getting ready to start three new projects and has another already under construction.
First, a water line around an existing bridge just east of the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Johnson Lane on the city's west side will be moved.
The relocation will create room for the county to replace a bridge at that location.
The work will take four weeks to complete.
A water line is also set to be replaced on the city's north side along Kratzville Road from Mill Road west to Hobart Avenue.
The project is expected to continue through March 2015.
And work will begin in the next few weeks on a sewer extension along Plaza Drive on Evansville's east side.
The project is meant to alleviate sanitary sewer overflow during heavy rains.
Construction is anticipated to take four weeks.
Work is also progressing on a sewer lining project on the city's southeast side.
The targeted area is suspected of having roots growing in pipes, faulty pipes and bad joints.
The project will reduce costs by cleaning and lining pipes before they fail.
Total amount of sewers lined this year will be 25,000 feet an at estimated cost of $1.2 million.
