EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - There was a special reunion Saturday for the veterans and their guardians who went on the first Honor Flight from Evansville to Washington, D.C. less than a month ago.
The group enjoyed a free breakfast at Golden Corral.
Many talked about the trip with the friends they had made on the Honor Flight.
Organizers say it was like another meet and greet for the veterans and another way for our community to honor them for all that they've done for us.
"Hey, tell your son we said, 'Hi', alright? And we'll see one another again. Thank you but anyway we met people and became friends, wonderful," said William Koch, Veteran.
"I think it is just great getting all of these guys back together and the World War II guys are such a treasure to our country and we have such a short time left with these guys that it gives me goose bumps talking about it. It gives me goose bumps," said Rick Riddle, General Manager, Golden Corral.
Riddle says those who are retired or still active in the military can come out for another free meal at the Golden Corral on Monday for Military Appreciation Monday.
