A choking hazard has prompted McDonald's to recall about 2.3 Million "Hello Kitty"-themed whistles recently included in happy meals and mighty kids meals nationwide.
The whistles are red and were included in a plastic "Hello Kitty" figurine holding a pink heart-shaped lollipop. Components inside the whistle can detach, posing choking and aspiration hazards to young children.
McDonald's has received two reports of children coughing out pieces of the whistle, including one who received medical attention.
Consumers should take the whistles away from children and return them to any McDonald's for a free replacement toy and either a yogurt tube or bag of apple slices.
The toy came inside Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals in October through the first week of November.
