OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - An Owensboro nonprofit will be training residents how to step in and stop sexual violence.
New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services and River Valley Behavior Health will be offering bystander training next week at the Owensboro Police station.
The training teaches people how to be proactive when they see violence happening. Organizers say a lot of the time bystanders don't want to get involved and look the other way.
"We all have the choice every day to step in, say something, to delegate, to redirect, and we ourselves can help reduce violence in our community," said Julia Campbell, New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services.
New Beginnings says you may still register for the event. You can call 1-800-226-7273.
The training will be November 12, 2014 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at the Owensboro Police Station.
