Mother of burned Hopkins Co. child arrested

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - The mother of a two-year-old Hopkins County girl who suffered severe burns has been arrested.

Madisonville Police say the girl was reportedly scalded by hot bath water.

Two days later,  Baptist Health called police about the possible abuse of a child who had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the lower half of her body.

The girl's mother, Amanda Clark, was charged Tuesday with Criminal Abuse, 1st Degree.

She's in the Hopkins County Jail.

Last week, Madisonville Police arrested 19-year-old Austin Alfred of Madisonville and charged him with Child Abuse, 1st Degree.
