Shots fired call leads to pursuit and arrest of Rockport man

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) - A Rockport man is in jail after a pursuit in Gibson County.

The Gibson County Sheriff's Office says it all began when a man showed up at a house on County Road 350 North near County Road 225 West around 10:30 Thursday night.  

Deputies say the 25-year-old had been shot in the left shoulder.  He was taken to Deaconess Hospital.

The victim was able to give a description of the suspect's car.

Around 11:30 p.m., the Haubstadt Town Marshall got into a pursuit with a car traveling about 90 miles per hour on Highway 41 near County Road 600 South.

Officers followed the car through Fort Branch before the chase ended near State Road 168.

29-year-old Frank Maldonado of Rockport was taken to jail and charged with resisting arrest with a vehicle, OVWI and reckless driving.

Deputies say Maldonado also had an outstanding warrant in Vanderburgh County.

The sheriff's office says the case is still under investigation and more charges could be filed.
