Taking a Stand: Honor flight

Taking a Stand: Honor flight

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - This Saturday, I'm urging everyone from the Tri-State to go to the Evansville Airport and say welcome back to a special group of veterans.

Saturday, 70 Tri-State World War Two Veterans are getting the opportunity of a lifetime to fly from Evansville to Washington, DC to see the World War Two memorial.

Normally these flights take off from Indianapolis, and given our veterans ages, it usually requires two overnight stays in Indy which can be very costly.

But this Saturday, for the first time ever - the veterans will take off and land at Evansville Airport - and 14News will be along for the ride.

We're the only media that will be flying with our nations veterans as they arrive in Washington to see the very much deserved memorial in their honor.

The veterans are scheduled to arrive back in Evansville around 8:00 pm - and we want to make sure they know how special we truly believe they are!

Come out, bring the kids, bring your American Flags, and make sure the greatest generations of our time knows how appreciative we are of their honor and sacrifice.

Take a stand with me to let ALL of our veterans know - we will never forgot, and will always be thankful.
