JASPER, IN (WFIE) - An employee of Rally's in Jasper is facing several charges.

Jasper police and the fire department were called to Rally's at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for a fire inside the restaurant.

They found a strong odor of gas when they arrived.

Police say a Rally's employee, 24-year-old Braxton Cannon of Vincennes, intentionally started the fire using gas and a lighter in the employee bathroom.

When officers went to pat Cannon down, they say he resisted.  Police found a white substance in his pocket that later tested positive for meth.

Cannon also had $80 in cash which police say he later admitted to taking out of the store register.

He is Dubois County Jail charged with arson, possession of meth, theft and resisting law enforcement.
