Two kids forgo birthday presents to help charity

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - For the past 5 years, Lanie Kennedy and her brother Ben have given all their birthday presents to local charities.

This year they're taking it to a whole new level by holding an event called the Halloween Charity Bash.

All proceeds are going to Camp Reveal, a camp for kids from low-income families, and the Piper the Puppy program at the American Red Cross which helps children who have been affected by disaster.

Lanie  says this is something she's always wanted to do, "It's fun to like know you're helping people and at the same time you're helping other people like we're having a party so we're keeping people entertained but also helping others."

Tickets for the Halloween Charity Bash, which is being held at Camp Reveal, are  $5.00. The event will be from 4:00-9:00pm on Saturday, October 25.

Their goal is to have 500 people at the party.
