Challenger Baseball league wrapping up its first season

EVANSVILLE, IN (AP) - The Challenger Baseball league season is coming to an end.

Players were given trophies Sunday after the game to celebrate their season.

The president of Highland Baseball says this is an exciting moment because, for many of the players, this was their first athletic trophy.

At each game, there are people who help the players run and hit the ball.

The league is for both mentally and physically challenged kids.

"I'm feeling good today because my whole entire family is going to be watching," said Andrew Bennett, Challenger League player.

"They get the opportunity that they, that most kids don't get to so that we get to so I think it's an honor they get to come out here and have fun," said Luke Pokorney, Challenger League helper.

Weather permitting, next week will be the last game of the season for the Challenger League.
