Top receivers a bright spot for Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, IL (AP) -

For a 5-11 freshman Mike Dudek has made some big, acrobatic catches this season for Illinois.

But Dudek can't help but envy teammate Geronimo Allison a bit. The 6-4 Allison can go get balls most guys can't.

The two receivers give the Illini (3-4, 0-3 Big Ten) something good to talk about in a season in which the losses are starting to pile up.

Between them they have 67 catches for 1,067 yards and eight touchdowns.

Dudek is from Naperville. He came to Illinois after getting few other offers.

Allison is from Florida and played first at Iowa Western Community College.

But now both will have to adapt to life without the quarterback who threw most of their catches. Wes Lunt is out several weeks with a broken leg.
