TRAFFIC ALERT: Lloyd Expressway pedestrian bridge demo Thursday night

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An important reminder for drivers:  contractors will be demolishing the pedestrian bridge over the Lloyd Expressway Thursday night.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., INDOT says westbound traffic will go down to one lane.  Both eastbound lanes will remain open.

Starting around 9:30 p.m, both westbound lanes will be closed in 20 minute increments while crews begin work to remove the pedestrian bridge.

And at midnight, there will be a complete closure - both east and westbound lanes of the Lloyd- to lift the bridge and remove it.  This will take about 20 minutes as well.

The Willow Road exit will be open at that time.

INDOT the work to remove the pedestrian bridge will be done before the Friday morning rush.

A new pedestrian bridge will be built to replace the one that is being demolished.
