EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A new bike path is coming to north Main Street as part of a project called "StreetScape".
The path will be added to the west end of north Main, and 97 parking spots will be removed.
However, 118 off-site parking spots will be added before the others disappear.
Some businesses along north Main feel the change will hurt their bottom line.
"I don't know of any businesses on this block that are for it, and I see no benefit," says Edward Creek, Main Street business owner.
"I don't want to gamble my business on them thinking it's going to be a good deal. I want to know it's going to be a good deal," says Dwayne Martin, Main Street business owner.
This will be the first protected bike lane in Evansville, and it will stretch from Garvin Park to Division.
Construction is set to begin next spring.
