Solders collect food for homeless shelter

In Owensboro, several businesses donated more than 1,300 pounds of non perishable food to the Daniel Pitino Shelter.

It's all part of Operation Stomp Out Hunger. Four active duty soldiers from the Owensboro Army recruiting Center stopped all along Frederica Street picking up the canned goods.

The soldiers say it's one way to give back to the community.

This is the second year the soldiers have been involved in Operation Stomp Out Hunger.
