Cause of Gibson Co. grain bin fire determined

GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

We now know what started a large fire in a Gibson County grain bin on Tuesday.

Francisco Fire Chief, Mike Sullivan, tells 14News that a pulley belt that slipped off.

The spinning belt caught fire from too much friction and ignited the corn below.

Sullivan said they had about 75 people fighting the fire with three ladder trucks.

Contractors were on the scene at Wabash Valley Grain Wednesday fixing the pulley.
