Muhlenberg Co. receives grant to upgrade 911 service

MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) - Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court has received a $32,500 grant to upgrade the county's 911 service.

According to State Rep. Brent Yonts, the funding was awarded by the Commercial Mobile Radio Services Board of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security.

The Board helps Kentucky communities provide 911 services.

Yonts says the funding is important now that landline service has been replaced with cell phone service by many which had led to decreased revenue for 911 upgrades.
