Kids in NM suspended for bringing "Breaking Bad" candy to school

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KOAT) -

A mother in New Mexico says her two young boys were kicked out of school for bringing in candy inspired by the TV show, "Breaking Bad".

10-year-old Gabriel says he brought the candy to school to share with his friends.

The problem is the blue crystals are marketed as "Breaking Bad" candy. It's meant to resemble the meth you see on the show.

Gabriel says he really doesn't know about the TV show.

Suspension slips say he and his brother were suspended for, "inappropriate and unacceptable behavior, and disruption of the educational process."

The boys' mother, Virginia, says candy can be a distraction if its brought into the classroom, but they were actually sharing on the playground.

She says the suspension goes too far.
