Taking a Stand: Race for the Cure

Taking a Stand: Race for the Cure

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Sunday is the 17th Annual Komen Evansville Tri-State Race for the Cure at Eastland Mall.

Since the beginning in 1998, the Evansville Tri-State affiliate has invested over $12-million in local breast health, and breast cancer awareness projects.

The affiliate serves 28 counties between Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Of all the donations and proceeds, 75 percent of it stays right here in the Tri-State.

The numbers, are staggering. 1.3 million people a year are diagnosed with breast cancer and yet, there is still no cure.

While it is depressing to think about in 2014, still not being able to beat this horrible disease. We can continue the fight.

We can continue to educate, and most importantly, we can continue to help those affected by breast cancer.

This Sunday, remember the true reason for this walk.

Continue the fight and never forget those who lost this horrific battle, never leave the side of those who are battling this disease right now, and celebrating, yet continuing to stand by those who battled this disease and won.

This Sunday, I truly hope you'll be at Eastland Mall, helping raise money to find a cure.

Helping those who lost, are battling, and who've won the fight, know that we will never forget and that we will ALWAYS fight on.

Help 14News and the Komen Evansville Tri-State Race for the Cure - Take a Stand against breast cancer.
