Man suffers severe burns in Madisonville trailer fire

Madisonville man severely burned in fire

MADISONVILLE, KY (WFIE) - A Madisonville man is hospitalized following a fire around 8:30 Thursday morning.

It happened in the 2000 block of south Main Street.

Firefighters say the fire spread fast through the trailer.

One man suffered burns over 60% of his body and was taken by helicopter to a Nashville hospital.

No word yet on what caused the fire although neighbors report hearing an explosion.

"I was asleep, and all the sudden I heard this big boom," says neighbor Trevor McKnight. "I thought my truck had rolled into a trailer, and I came out and this camper over here is on fire. I ran back inside and told my mom to call 911 or something."

The name of the victim hasn't been released yet.

Fire investigators are looking into a cause.
