OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - For the past few weeks, four-year-old Karyssa Ruby and her mom, Nisa Parker, have been collecting items to put in care packages for wounded Fort Knox soldiers.
On Monday, they began collecting donations from people outside Kroger on Frederica Street in Owensboro.
Parker says her daughter got the idea of putting care packages together from a friend.
She also says they have family who've served and are serving, and it's their way to give back.
"This is the least we could do. We could do a whole lot more for our soldiers, but hopefully we make some soldiers happy and put a smile on their face give," says Parker.
The two will be out all week in front of Kroger if you're interested in donating.
