First round of water samples taken in Jasper

DUBOIS CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Jasper Municipal Water Department has taken the first round of samples from the city water system.

Testing will take 24 hours and a second set of samples will need to be tested in the following 24 hours.

They must remain at safe levels for two 24-hour periods before the boil order can be lifted.

In the meantime, people who have Jasper water are still being advised to boil water that is being used for drinking and washing dishes.

A reminder that Jasper water customers can get water from the distribution site at 2nd Avenue and Crossroads Avenue near the bowling alley Friday night until 7:00 p.m. as well as on Saturday.

There is a limit of five gallons per customer and you must bring your own clean containers.

A boil order was issued Wednesday after higher than normal amounts of manganese were causing an adverse effect on the chlorine level in the water.

If you need water, you can go to the Dubois Water Utilities distribution site at 2nd Avenue and Crossroads Avenue on Friday until 7:00 pm. As well, as on Saturday.

There is a limit of five gallons per customer and you must bring your own clean containers.
