INDIANAPOLIS (WFIE) - Indiana State Police have a new process to apply for firearms permits.
The old paper application will go away October 1 and only electronic applications will be accepted.
Firearms permits issued after that date will also be hard plastic instead of the paper.
State Police say the system is designed to be user-friendly and make the process easier for everyone involved.
People who already have a firearms permit, or those applying a permit after October 1, will also be able to request a duplicate firearms license or request a change of address electronically.
If someone has a permit already, there's no need to re-apply at this time. They will use the electronic application process when their permit expires (if they don't have a lifetime permit).
