DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) - In Daviess County, a six mile section of the new U.S. 60 bypass extension will open Monday morning.
The contractor is expected to open sections of the new highway starting at 9:00 a.m.
If all goes as planned, the changeover should be completed by the afternoon commute.
The new four-lane highway is designed to improve the traffic flow between Owensboro and the Natcher Bridge.
In Owensboro, street repairs start Monday night on Villa Point between Commonwealth Drive and Fairview Drive.
Two way traffic will be directed by flaggers while sections of the street are reconstructed and resurfaced.
Work will be done from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The project is expected to be done by the middle of November.
In Owensboro, drivers can expect detours starting Monday on West Parrish Avenue near Moreland Park.
The Regional Water Resource Agency is closing the street between Hickman and Parkview.
Crews are installing pipes that will carry storm water to a new flood retention basin.
The contractor will keep the main entrance of Owensboro Catholic High School open during school hours.
The closure is expected to last about 45 days.
