14 News Update: Boil Advisory continues for Evansville's west side

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The precautionary boil advisory will continue for at least another day for a large portion of the city's west side.

According to the Evansville Water and Sewer Department, water tests conducted Sunday did not pass and bacteria levels were above acceptable levels.

The advisory was issued last week after a major leak in a water line on Upper Mount Vernon Road.

Director of Utilities Allen Mounts said water samples must pass two tests within 48 hours in order for the advisory to be lifted.  One test is scheduled for Monday and another on Tuesday.  If levels are acceptable, the boil advisory will be lifted.

Included in the advisory are:

-The area bounded to the south by the Ohio River and to the Posey Co. Line west

-Between Indiana 62 and New Harmony Road

-The area bounded by Indiana 62 to the north, Lemcke to the east, Ray Becker to the south and Barker on the west

-Everything west of S. Tekoppel Avenue and east of Schutte Road

-South of 62 to the Ohio River
