United Way's Day of Caring

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The United Way of Southwestern Indiana held its 21st annual Day of Caring on Friday.

A record number of 959 volunteers signed up for this community-wide event.

After the United Way celebration breakfast, volunteers rushed out the doors to start their day giving back to the community at nonprofit organizations.

Over 50 companies and agencies were represented. 

"It's important to me to volunteer and see what's out in the community because I really don't know and today brightened my eyes a lot," said Kim Long, volunteer

The goal of the annual campaign is to raise $4.1 million.

The final total will be announced on December 5.
