Suspect in jeans theft arrested

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man has been charged with robbery after stealing a pair of jeans from a store at Oxmoor Center.

An arrest warrant says that on Aug. 28,  Joseph Dearmond, 34, of Louisville, was in Von Maur. He selected a pair of jeans worth $169, took them to the dressing room and put them on under the pair of pants he was wearing.

After coming out of the dressing room, Dearmond left the store without paying for the jeans. When stopped by a Von Maur loss prevention officer and asked to come back inside, Dearmond became combative and used his head to strike the officer in the face before fleeing.

The warrant says Dearmond was wearing a name tag with the first name of "Joe" from Paul Mitchell. Police were able to link Dearmond the the robbery from the name tag.
