EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Township trustee Kathryn Martin is excited to say the township is completely debt free. An audit was released today to show it.
She says back in 2010, the township went from $15,000 to $152,000 in debt in a span of three months.
Former Township trustee, Linda Durham, plead guilty to theft and official misconduct after using township money for herself.
Martin says a lot went into fixing what was done.
"People ask, you know, how'd you do it and my chief deputy and I, we all kind of sit back and go it was a blur, it was a lot of long long nights and weekends, it was a lot of just struggling and trying to figure out the best way to do it," says Martin.
Martin says the Indiana State Auditor told her he's never seen a recovery as "incredible" as what's been done at Knight township.
