Vectren has been given the green light from state regulators to raise natural gas rates.
Vectren asked for the extra revenue to replace more than 1,000-miles of aging natural gas distribution lines over seven years.
The company says the project is going to cost $865-million.
Utility officials say the update is needed to ensure the safety and reliability of its gas network.
The monthly fee will start in 2015 at about $1 for residential customers and rise to about $13 by 2021.
