LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - With both parents serving in the military, Micah and Isaiah Roberts of Louisville appreciate it when mom and dad are home. The young boys also appreciated a new playground from Active Heroes and WAVE 3 a few weeks ago. They had no idea that a bedroom makeover was also coming their way after mother Rebekah's essay made the Roberts one of three families to win in our contest to give back to three families in the military.

"Wow, I wanted that," screamed Micah when he saw a Spiderman toy.

His brother was equally excited to get the Incredible Hulk. The entire bedroom filled with toys and new quilts with their names along with new furniture and paint.

"They're very grateful," said Rebekah. "They don't take anything for granted."

Mom and Dad both have served more than a decade in the Reserves and that puts a lot of stress on the kids.

"We have to be gone a lot and a lot of the times at the same time. So they have a place they can be comfortable in when we're gone," said Rebekah expressing her appreciation of the makeover. "It's really great and I'm just humbled by everything that WAVE 3 and Active Heroes and all those other sponsors have done. Those sponsors included Meijer with a $250 gift card, Ashley Furniture with new bedroom furnishings and Hikes Point Paint and Wallpaper putting a fresh coat on the boys room.

The day ended with a surprise Rebekah didn't see coming. It was a new dishwasher from Charlie Wilson's Dixie Appliance to replace her old one that had a bit of a problem.

"The bottom melted and it was only cleaning on the top half," said Rebekah.

Now her dishes will shine as bright as the smiles on her son's faces, after a well deserved makeover for a family dedicated to serving our country.
