Driver swerves to miss deer, school bus ends up on side

A bus driver was injured in a morning crash in Calloway County, Kentucky.

It happened Friday at approximately 6:50 a.m. on Radio Road near Dexter, Kentucky.

According to the sheriff's office, the bus was driven had just begun its route. There were no children were on the bus at the time of the wreck.

The bus driver was traveling southbound on Radio Road when a deer ran into her path.

Swift swerved to miss the deer. The bus dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway, over corrected and crossed the northbound lane.

The bus came to rest on its right side in a ditch.

The driver of the bus, Terrie D. Swift, 49, of Murray was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Calloway County Fire and Rescue, Murray Fire Department and the Murray Calloway County Ambulance Service.
